Personal Fabrication
MIT professor Neil Gershenfeld talks about his Fab Lab -- a low-cost lab that lets people build things they need using digital and analog tools. It's a simple idea with powerful results: His Fab Labs, set up in communities around the world, let people build eyeglass frames, toys, computer parts – anything they need and can imagine. Om het concept FabLAb ook in Nederland te introduceren is de Stichting FabLab.nl opgericht.
De digitale communicatie revolutie ligt achter ons. Het is tijd voor de volgende... Personal Fabrication. De mogelijkheid 'to make almost anything', thuis met desktop machines. Het ligt nu (bijna ) binnen handbereik door een concept uitgedacht door Neil Gershenfeld van MIT. Het heet een FabLab, en bestaat uit een set machines van bij elkaar zo'n 30.000 dollar, waarmee zo niet alles, dan toch veel kan worden ontworpen en gerealiseerd. Deze site is een podium voor FabLab geinteresseerden in Nederland, in de hoop en met als doel om een netwerk van FabLabs te realiseren in Nederland. ©FabLab
